New at SpeedCurve!
Performance consulting services, faster test agents, and Last Painted Hero
There's always lots going on behind the scenes here at SpeedCurve HQ. Here's our latest news...
Consulting services with Tim Kadlec
We're super excited to announce that we're partnering with Tim Kadlec to provide consulting services to our customers! In addition to being a great human, Tim is an internationally acclaimed performance expert, speaking at conferences like Velocity, SmashingConf, and Webstock. He's helped companies like ESPN, Radio Free Europe, and Turner Broadcasting make their sites faster. Learn how Tim is teaming with us to help you.
Introducing Last Painted Hero
Last Painted Hero is a brand-new synthetic metric that shows you when the last piece of critical content is painted on your pages. Keep reading to find out how Last Painted Hero works, why we created it, and how it can help you understand how your users perceive the speed of your pages.
New test agents migration on May 1
Mark the date! On 1 May 2018 we'll automatically migrate your SpeedCurve account to our new, faster test agents. You can migrate to the new test agents any time before then from your settings page.
We've switched to Google PageSpeed Insights V4
As a result, you may notice a shift in your PageSpeed scores in SpeedCurve. The new version of Google's PageSpeed Insights API has a refined optimization score that focuses mainly on the relative headroom to improve. It removes all usability-related optimizations, instead focusing solely on performance.
(Now is a great time to revisit your existing performance budgets. Did you know that performance budgets can now be added directly to your Favorites charts?)
We performance conferences!
I'm thrilled to be part of DeltaV in London on May 10-11, alongside so many speakers I admire: Léonie Watson, Seren Davies, Bruce Lawson, and Andy Davies. If you're in London, I hope to see you there!
We're also a proud sponsor of the inaugural performance.now() conference, happening in Amsterdam on November 8-9. Steve and I are honored to be part of the all-star speaker lineup, which includes folks like Harry Roberts, Katie Sylor-Miller, and Paul Irish. (Get your early-bird ticket now and save 100 euros!)
